Garuba foi a 23ª escolha no último Draft da NBA. Disputou 15 jogos com o Houston Rockets nesta atual temporada e somou no total 19 pontos nessas partidas.

O jogador espanhol também esteve presente na G-League, no Rio Grande Valley Vipers, atuou em 11 jogos e teve médias de 9.2 pontos e 9.3 rebotes.
