O contrato de Seth, mesmo sendo modesto (cerca de US$ 2,29 milhões), ultrapassa o buffer permitido para manter o elenco dentro das regras da liga.
Por isso, a diretoria pode optar por dispensar (waive) Seth Curry após a pré-temporada e recontratá-lo em novembro, quando a janela permite ajustes no elenco sem ultrapassar o teto. Essa manobra é comum em situações de aperto financeiro e não significa que o jogador está fora dos planos da equipe.
Esse tipo de contrato é usado para proteger a franquia em caso de lesão durante o training camp. Ele permite que o jogador participe dos treinos e jogos da pré-temporada, mas pode ser encerrado sem penalidades antes da temporada regular. Caso tudo corra bem, o contrato pode ser convertido em um vínculo padrão ou refeito após o prazo permitido.
A expectativa é que Seth continue treinando com o grupo e, se não houver imprevistos, seja reintegrado ao elenco principal em novembro, mantendo viva a chance de atuar ao lado do irmão Stephen Curry na temporada 2025/26.
